This journal is not Friends-only, but much of it is heavily filtered; only about half my posts are open to the public. If you add me to your Friends list, and would be interested in seeing more here than the general public, please post a comment somewhere in my journal so that I'll know.

"This angry patriotic veteran posts over a range of topics, including raising his daughters and various political issues. His wit and compassion is obvious in his posts. Pdx42 is an interesting man with an interesting blog, a definite gem to read." - rosethorne

About me: pdx is the FAA abbreviation for my hometown, Portland, Oregon. 42 is the answer to the Ultimate Question of Life, the Universe, and Everything, according to Douglas Adams' The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.
I go through life as a single parent, activist, writer, disabled war veteran, lover, friend, and all-around good egg. While doing these things I also work as a network tech to pay the rent and feed the kids. I am moving toward getting more work in the creative realm.
Right now, my life is focused on raising my children to be good people, and doing what I can to see that they inherit a better world from my generation. On that score, I have joined the struggle to oppose encroaching nationalist fascism here at home; and work for peace, justice, and equality globally.
"[T]here's not a liberal America and a conservative America — there's the United States of America. There's not a black America and white America and Latino America and Asian America; there's the United States of America."
Illinois State Senator Barack Obama, July 27, 2004
